Henry Winkler may have played America’s coolest greaser on “Happy Days,” but these days he’s perfectly happy being America’s coolest grandfather. At 79, the Emmy-winning actor is savoring life with his wife of 46 years, Stacey Weitzman, their three children, and six (soon to be seven) adorable grandchildren.
“Grandparenting is completely different than parenting,” Winkler reflects. “You get all the love with less of the responsibility.” But don’t let that fool you – the Winkler household still runs on structure. The actor insists all grandchildren, from the 14-year-old to the 7-year-old, clear their own plates after meals. “And no yelling when the baby’s sleeping,” he adds with a laugh.
Family photos tell the story of a man thoroughly enjoying this chapter of life: dancing with granddaughters on TikTok, composing funny fruit songs for toddler Francis Joan, and beaming with pride during museum outings with his redheaded grandsons. Winkler especially treasures his FaceTime serenades with the littlest ones, calling music a “terrific connector” across generations.
While his Hollywood legacy is secure, Winkler’s proudest accomplishment is clearly his family. “They’re my greatest blessing,” he says of his grandchildren, proving that after all these years, the Fonz still knows how to warm hearts – this time through the simple joy of being grandpa.
