Joy Behar has never been one to follow the rules—and her love life is no exception. After her first marriage ended, she met Steve Janowitz, a retired teacher seven years younger than her. But instead of rushing into marriage, they waited nearly three decades before making it official in 2011.
At 82, Behar is still a powerhouse on The View, where she’s been a co-host since 1997. She’s had her ups and downs with the show, including a brief firing in 2013 that she now laughs about. “I was happy to be fired,” she once admitted, saying she needed a break at the time.
Her relationship with Janowitz, though, has been a steady constant. They may bicker—mostly about Behar’s driving—but their bond is unshakable. She jokes that Janowitz is always correcting her behind the wheel, even after 40 years together. One of her funniest stories involves her car rolling into a farm stand because she forgot to put it in park.
But despite the occasional spat, their marriage thrives on humor and mutual respect. Behar has said they don’t take themselves too seriously, which helps them navigate life’s little challenges.
Family is also a big part of Behar’s happiness. Her daughter, Eve, is an artist, and her grandson, Luca, is now a teenager. Through it all—career, love, and family—Behar has proven that sometimes the best things come to those who wait.
