A tourist’s dangerous attempt to photograph himself with a crocodile resulted in a terrifying 30-minute attack at a wetlands zoo. The 29-year-old man climbed into Lalay the crocodile’s enclosure on April 28, apparently believing the 15-foot reptile was an artificial display. His mistake became violently clear when the animal suddenly struck.
Eyewitness footage shows the moment Lalay clamped onto the man’s arm before dragging him underwater. The crocodile then inflicted a severe thigh wound while zookeepers desperately worked to intervene. Using concrete blocks to distract the animal, staff finally created an opening to extract the bleeding victim after half an hour of struggle.
Despite suffering massive blood loss and requiring 50 stitches, doctors confirmed the tourist avoided permanent damage. Local resident Canete Jie expressed shock at the man’s survival, calling his decision to enter the enclosure “completely irrational.” The zoo has since increased security patrols and barrier checks to prevent similar incidents.
