Dalton police are piecing together the events that led to three fatalities in what investigators believe was a domestic violence incident culminating in murder-suicide. The victims include 35-year-old Rebeca Akins, her husband Kevin, and his 33-year-old pregnant girlfriend Cindel Rhoden.
According to police reports, the chain of events began when Kevin allegedly shot his wife at their shared apartment on May 21st before proceeding to Cindel’s residence where the final tragedy unfolded. Officers discovered the gruesome scene after tracing Kevin’s movements through surveillance footage and a concerned 911 call from Cindel’s father.
The aftermath has left both women’s families facing emotional and financial hardship. Rebeca’s sister Emily described her as a loving person who had spent half her life with Kevin, while Cindel’s family remembered her as a devoted mother to two daughters who was expecting a son in September. Community support through fundraising efforts has begun, but both families face significant challenges in covering funeral costs and supporting the children affected by this tragedy.
