The case against former Atlanta funeral director Stanley Henderson keeps getting worse. What began as an investigation into him allegedly giving dirt instead of cremated ashes to grieving parents has now exploded into multiple felony sex crime charges.
In a cruel betrayal of trust last year, Henderson reportedly handed a Valdosta couple a box of dirt when they came to collect their baby Josiah’s ashes. Their legal team discovered Henderson was operating without a license and had allegedly committed similar frauds in other communities before being run out of town.
When authorities launched their investigation at Henderson’s seemingly abandoned Stockbridge location, they uncovered evidence of crimes far beyond funeral service misconduct. The disturbing new charges include child pornography and sex trafficking, leaving many to wonder how many lives this man may have damaged.
While Henderson sits in jail awaiting trial without bond, the couple who first sounded the alarm have finally received their infant’s true remains. Their attorneys report they’re grateful for justice being served, though nothing can undo the additional pain Henderson caused during their time of grief.
