Angelina Jolie Plans to Sell Her Los Angeles Home and Move Abroad

Angelina Jolie is planning a big change in her life by putting her historic Los Angeles estate on the market and considering a move overseas. The 50-year-old actress, best known for her role in Maria, reportedly never intended to live in L.A. full-time but delayed her departure because of custody arrangements with her ex-husband, Brad Pitt.

Jolie and Pitt, who finalized their divorce in December 2024 after eight years of legal struggles, share six children. According to sources, Jolie aims to relocate once her youngest children, the twins Knox and Vivienne, turn 18 next year. She is exploring various international options and looks forward to leaving Los Angeles behind.

The property she intends to sell, purchased in 2017 for $24.5 million, is a remarkable 1913-built estate with deep Hollywood roots. Spanning 11,000 square feet, it features six bedrooms and ten bathrooms on beautifully landscaped grounds. The estate carries a rich history—from its ownership by famed director Cecil B. DeMille to its location next to Charlie Chaplin’s former residence.

Jolie acknowledged in a 2024 interview that her stay in Los Angeles has mainly been because of her divorce proceedings. She has long desired a life elsewhere to provide her family with more privacy, peace, and safety, which she feels L.A. no longer offers.

She plans to split her time between various places around the world, especially Cambodia, where she adopted her eldest son Maddox in 2002. Jolie affectionately describes Cambodia as a home for her and intends to spend much time there while visiting her children wherever they are.

This move marks the end of a lengthy chapter in L.A., closing the door on a storied estate connected to Hollywood history. It also reflects Jolie’s commitment to her humanitarian work and her wish to raise her children away from the spotlight and closer to the communities she supports worldwide.

Though the exact new home location is not finalized, Jolie appears set to embrace a global lifestyle, balancing family, activism, and personal freedom beyond the city she has called home for many years.
