A Brazilian couple, Jeferson Luiz Sagaz, 37, a military police officer, and Ana Carolina Silva, 41, a nail salon owner, were found dead in a motel bathtub after celebrating their four-year-old daughter’s birthday. The tragic incident occurred in São José, Brazil, on August 11, 2025.
After a day spent at a local food park and a nightclub, the couple checked into the Dallas Motel shortly after midnight, leaving their daughter in the care of Jeferson’s sister. When they failed to return the next day, relatives alerted authorities. CCTV footage showed the couple entering the bathroom and later losing consciousness in water measured at 50°C (122°F).
Toxicology reports revealed high levels of alcohol and traces of cocaine in their systems. The medical examiner ruled their deaths as caused by exogenous poisoning leading to heatstroke, intense dehydration, and organ failure. A space heater also contributed to the high temperature in the room.
Their daughter is now in the care of relatives, as family and friends mourn the sudden loss of the couple.
