Donald Trump had been married to Melania for about six months when she told him she was pregnant with their first child together. Barron Trump, their only son, was born in March 2006.
In an interview, Melania revealed that Donald was initially surprised by the news. “He came home and I told him he’d be a daddy. And his reaction was… at first he needed to take it in. It was a real surprise. And then he was very happy,” she said.
Donald later reflected, “I expected we were going to have children, so I wasn’t totally surprised. But I was surprised by the speed of it. It happened very quickly.”
Despite the initial shock, Donald embraced fatherhood, choosing the name Barron early on. However, he considered changing it near the birth, but Melania insisted on keeping it.
