In a moving social media post, Martin Frizell has given fans an update on his wife Fiona Phillips’ condition as she lives with early-onset Alzheimer’s. The former GMTV presenter, now 64, was diagnosed three years ago with the disease that had previously affected both her parents.
Marking Mother’s Day, Martin shared a heartfelt message alongside a photo of Fiona in happier times. “This is how Fiona was four years ago, just before symptoms started,” he wrote about the cheerful image. “My favorite photo of a wonderful mother.” The couple share two sons in their twenties, Nat and Mackenzie.
Martin also posted about Fiona’s 2007 “Mum of the Year” award, which holds special significance for their family. He noted this personal achievement surpassed all her professional honors in importance at home.
Despite her health challenges, Fiona is channeling her experiences into writing. With help from Martin and journalist Allison Phillips, she’s creating a memoir titled “Remember When,” expected to publish in July 2025. The book will offer both a personal narrative and valuable perspective on Alzheimer’s, delivered with Fiona’s characteristic sincerity that endeared her to television audiences.
