The beauty community is reeling after the brutal killing of 27-year-old Hailey Hosford, a talented hairstylist and entrepreneur, in what appears to be a random act of violence. The tragic incident unfolded in the parking garage of a Sunrise, Florida luxury apartment complex where Hosford was staying.
Police reports paint a harrowing picture of the final moments before Hosford’s death. Surveillance video captured 21-year-old Jackson Sagesse Jr. armed with a knife approaching Hosford’s vehicle around 1:30 a.m. Witnesses say Hosford tried to take refuge in her car, but Sagesse allegedly forced his way inside.
The attack turned even more violent when a friend of Hosford’s intervened, suffering a throat wound in the process. Despite his injury, the friend managed to escape and call for help. When officers arrived, they found Hosford fatally wounded in her car with multiple stab wounds.
Evidence quickly pointed to Sagesse, who was arrested at his mother’s nearby apartment. Investigators found blood evidence and noted missing knives from the apartment’s kitchen set. In a chilling admission, Sagesse reportedly confessed to the stabbing but provided unclear motives for his actions.
Those who knew Hosford describe her as a vibrant force in the South Florida beauty and wellness scene. “She wasn’t just a hairstylist – she created experiences through her salon and yoga retreats,” shared friend Aubrey Rosebrock. A memorial fund has been established to support funeral arrangements, with hundreds contributing to honor Hosford’s memory.
